OUR STORY
From an introspective journey was born a crazy challenge; building a school in the north of Laos.

How it all started...
​
Four years ago, Mélissa embarked on a journey alone with her backpack in the heart of this country without knowing that this experience would change her life.
Melissa encountered a man called Sabu who taught English for free in his living room for the underprivileged children of Nong Khiaw. She was inspired by his motivation to help Lao children. This led Melissa to set up a French non-profit organization called “NK SEEDS" to help them develop their English abilities for greater job prospects to keep up with the growing tourism industry Southeast Asia is experiencing. Together, they built a school called “NK English School”.
Since 2019, NK SEEDS has been teaching free English lessons to more than 150 students.

Each year, more than 100 international volunteers join us to support English teaching and the development of the NGO.
​
Since 2022, NK SEEDS has been focusing on vital environmental issues and challenges by initiating plastic and paper recycling projects, water irrigation in remote villages, toilet building, school renovations, school supplies, clothing, food and basic needs donations to more than 1000 students and families.

In october 2022, NK SEEDS co-created "Family Bakery" a solidarity restaurant in Luang Prabang. All its profit is reinvested into NK English School.

Since February 2023, we have set up a sponsorship project to help families in precarious situations to pay the school fees of their children.

En octobre 2018, baroudeuse dans l'âme, Mélissa décide de tout « plaquer » et de partir à l'aventure à l'autre bout du monde. Seule avec son backpack, embarquée sur des chemins d'Asie incertains, elle atterrit au Laos et fait la connaissance de Sabou, jeune laotien, qui a improvisé dans son salon une salle de classe dans laquelle il enseigne l'anglais aux enfants du village. Mélissa, touchée par l'engagement de Sabou, décide de mettre son projet de voyage de côté et de poser ses bagages à Nong Khiaw au nord du Laos. Des sourires, des regards d'enfants aux difficultés diverses, Mélissa raconte son aventure qui l'a emmenée vers la création d'une école gratuite encadrée par des salariés et des bénévoles du monde entier. Ce journal-récit de voyage vaut pour sa fraîcheur et la passion qui le traverse.
Mélissa Lansmant est une jeune femme entreprenante, profondément humaine qui d'un rêve a fait une réalité. « J'ai écrit pour rendre compte de mon aventure et pour inspirer ceux qui auraient un projet. Je veux leur dire que tout est possible. »
