Phou Jo English School
Phou Jo English School is a free English school located on Khong Island, the largest island in the Mekong River, at the heart of the 4000 islands (Si Phan Don). This project was created in partnership with NK SEEDS and Josef and Vanthika, a Franco-Lao retired couple who have chosen to dedicate this stage of their lives to educating children in Laos. English classes are offered to local students five times a week, with around 100 students divided into 3 or 4 classes. The classes are taught by a local teacher, assisted by international volunteers. The program began on September 17, 2024.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for volunteers to teach English in collaboration with our local teachers! We are seeking open-minded, responsible individuals who are eager to help and passionate about sharing knowledge and stories. We would love to learn about your culture and, in return, share the richness of Lao culture with you. Volunteer positions are available for those who wish to add meaning to their travels and dedicate at least 2 weeks to our organization. Volunteers teach 5 days a week, with approximately 2 hours of classes per day. During their stay, they will assist Davanh, our local English teacher.
Conditions of admission :
- Be over 18 years old
- To be independent
- Proficient in English at a B2 level - intermediate + (reading, writing, oral communication)
- To be in a good health
- Be available for a period of at least 2 weeks
Accomodation and food
Price: 100€ per week
Volunteers are kindly hosted at Kongmany Hotel. The stay includes two meals a day (breakfast and dinner).
Length of stay:
- Minimum: 2 weeks
- Maximum: 4+ weeks (to be discussed)
- Arrival date : Sunday
