His story
The son of rice farmers in Beng district. A student by day, a waiter by night, to help his family.
Niccko is 20. He grew up in Beng district, in northern Laos, in a farming family that lives mainly from growing rice.
To study at university, he had to leave his village. He now lives in a dormitory with other students and sees his family only two or three times a year, during the holidays. Despite the distance, they remain at the heart of his priorities.
Daily life
Niccko’s day does not end when classes are over. Every evening, Monday to Saturday, he works in a bar to help support his family financially.
Demanding work, but it also lets him practice English every day, with customers from all over the world.

Their dream
To become an English teacher. Niccko wants to pass on in turn the knowledge he is gaining today.
For him, learning English also means opening doors to new possibilities — for himself, and for the young people of his region.

Never giving up
His family’s income is modest and irregular. His father is currently recovering from an operation, which makes the family’s situation even more fragile.
Yet Niccko is pursuing his studies with determination and getting excellent results.
Thanks to his sponsor’s support, he can move forward with greater peace of mind and get a little closer to his dream every day.

And tomorrow?
Today Niccko is a student. Tomorrow he hopes to become an English teacher and pass on in turn what he will have learned.
