Her story
When Dokkham joined the sponsorship program, she dreamed of becoming a nurse to help the children and families of her community.
Thanks to her determination and the support of her sponsorship, she carried her studies through to her degree, obtained in early 2026, at the age of 21. She also took NK Seeds’ free English classes and took part in the medical mission of December 2025, at the Tha Teng hospital.
Today she works as a nurse in a private clinic in Luang Prabang.

Humble roots
Dokkham grew up in a modest family, in a daily life of simplicity, hard work and mutual help. When she goes back to her loved ones, she naturally picks up the gestures of everyday life and joins in the family’s activities.
In this photo, she is using a large traditional mortar and pestle, as many Lao families still do to prepare certain foods.

How far she has come
Seeing them together, dressed up and so proud by her side at her graduation, is deeply moving. This photo tells the story of how far Dokkham has come, and of the efforts, hope and support of a whole family.
First graduate in work
A job that changes lives
Having finished her studies, she now works as a nurse at the Phakan Arokhaved clinic. She is the first graduate supported by NK Seeds to find a job in her field.
With her diploma and her nursing job, Dokkham can become independent and, in turn, contribute to her family’s expenses.
Her work is much more than a first job: it lets her put her skills at the service of others while giving valuable help to her loved ones.
August 2026
Her first months as a nurse
Dokkham has just begun her third month at the clinic. Everything is going very well and she is gradually finding her feet in her new workplace.
Every day, she hands a report of her work to her manager, which tracks her tasks and the progress she has made since she arrived.
At the end of this third month, Dokkham will have an assessment: a review of her work and an exam to check the knowledge and skills she has gained at the clinic. So after her working days, she spends her evenings studying and revising her medical knowledge.
