Background

A remote mountain village, 95 km from Oudomxay. Its households live off forest work, rice and maize. With no drinking water, people walk a long way to a small river that is often very dirty.

The project

NK Seeds will tap a spring 7 km from the village, and build a new reservoir, a distribution network and filtration. A demanding job: very steep ground, pipes imported from Thailand. The water should also help develop coffee growing.

The team

The project is led on site by Vilayphone Thongmanee, the local project manager, with Mélissa Lansmant, NK Seeds’ program director.

What's next

Work is due to start in 2026. It will be monitored on the ground by the local project manager and two engineers.
