The school
Double Horizon English School is a free English school on Deng Island, a small peaceful island in the middle of the Mekong, in Champassak province, southern Laos. The project grew out of a partnership between NK Seeds and Double Horizon, a French NGO that has worked in Laos since 1992 on education and international solidarity. The school offers free English classes to children and teenagers from the local community, five times a week, welcoming around 50 students in 2 classes. They are taught by a local teacher trained in communicative teaching, alongside international volunteers who come to share what they know and to encourage cultural exchange.

Volunteer opportunity
We need volunteers to teach English alongside our local teachers! We are looking for open-minded, reliable people who want to help and who enjoy sharing knowledge and stories. We would love to learn about your culture and to share the richness of Lao culture with you. Volunteer places are open to anyone who wants to give their trip a purpose and can give at least 2 weeks to our association. Volunteers teach 5 days a week, with about 2 hours of class a day. During their stay they assist our local English teachers.

Accommodation and meals:

The minimum stay is two weeks.

Price: €70 per week
Volunteers are warmly welcomed in a homestay with Mee and Vieng’s family. The stay includes two meals a day (breakfast and dinner).

Maximum: 4+ weeks (to be discussed)
